Drug dealing at Kushtia border / Shooting for money owed, 1 injured

A drug dealer was shot in the abdomen and seriously injured while going to collect money owed by drug dealers at Daulatpur border in Kushtia.

The victim was identified as named Alamgir Hossain, 28, son of late Shukur Ali of Munshiganj Bhangapara village.

The incident took place at around 4pm on Wednesday at the Thotarpara border of Ramkrishnapur union in the upazila.

According to the locals, the victim Alamgir Hossain used to get money from Bachchan Ali of Mohammadpur Dangyerpara area over drug dealing.

Asking for money often creates noise between them.

Ashiq, Jahangir and Igu of Crawfordnagar areas of the same union known as drug dealers also cohorts of Bachchan Ali, called Alamgir Hossain and took him to the back of Thotarpara Government Primary School where was waiting.

Bachchan Ali pulled out a pistol and fired at Alamgir Hossain at one stage of the conversation between them. Alamgir received bullets in his abdomen.

The drug dealers fled when Alamgir fell to the ground. Later, the locals rescued Alamgir and took him to Daulatpur upazila health complex.

The doctor on duty there sited him to Kushtia general Hospital.

Chairman of Ramkrishnapur Union Parishad, Siraj Mandal told that his opponent shot Alamgir Hossain in connection with drug related transaction.

Upon receiving the news, Additional SP of Bheramara Circle Al Beruni and Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Daulatpur Police Station SM Arifur Rahman went to the spot.

The OC said action would be taken after investigation.
