A Meherpur court has granted a two-day remand for former Public Administration Minister Farhad Hossain after showing him as arrested in two cases.
On Thursday, he was produced before the Meherpur Judicial Magistrate Court, where Senior Judicial Magistrate Sharmin Akhter issued the remand order.
Police stated that Farhad Hossain is accused in a total of eight cases.
He was produced in court in connection with two specific cases—one related to the firing during an anti-discrimination movement on August 5 last year and the other linked to the sensational murder of Jamaat leader Tariq.
On Wednesday night, he was brought to Meherpur jail from Dhaka under tight security.
District police intensified security, increasing patrols around the district jail and court premises.
Farhad Hossain was arrested by RAB on September 14 last year from the Eskaton area of the capital.
He was the former Member of Parliament for Meherpur-1.
