Prime accused of Magura child rape placed on 7-day remand

A court has granted a seven-day remand for the prime accused Hitu Sheikh of Magura child rape incident case. At the same time, the court also approved a five-day remand for the other three accused following a hearing at midnight on Sunday.
The Chief Judicial Magistrate of Magura passed the order at about 12:30: am.
Court sources said, court avoided hearing on the widely discussed child rape case due to heavy crowd environment situation in the court ground all day long.
The accused in the case have been identified as the child’s brother-in-law Sajib Hossain, 8, his father Hitu Mia 42) and mother Jabeda begum and 17-year-old minor boy
According to the victim’s family, the incident occurred on Thursday when the child was visiting her sister’s home in Nijnanduali village, an outskirts of Magura.
After the assault, she was initially admitted to Magura Sadar Hospital. However, as her condition deteriorated, she was transferred to Faridpur Medical College Hospital and later to the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) at Dhaka Medical College Hospital.
On Friday night, doctors placed her on ventilation due to her condition severely deteriorating.
On Saturday, medical professionals confirmed that the child’s condition remained serious.
Later that evening, she was shifted to the Combined Military Hospital (CMH) for advanced treatment.
In response to the situation, Home Affairs Advisor Jahangir Alam Chowdhury visited the hospital on Sunday morning and directed authorities to ensure the highest level of medical care for the victim.
The incident has sparked widespread outrage across the country. An all-out cry has been going on across the country for justice of the incident.
